I sprained my ankle playing soccer and it felt really painful and it got swollen and it bruised as well and on a scale of 1-3 mine was a level 2 sprain so i think that's probably what you did. It depends on how swollen it got and how much it hurt and for how long. As for what you did to your ankle when you hurt it I would say that you just weakened it you might be likely to injure it again if you didn't let it heal properly , but you did well by icing it and as long as you stayed off it for a bit and didn't push it, it should be fine.
