Wildlife Rehabilitation and euthanasia--did I do the right thing?

You did the right thing..if the wing could have been repaired it would have. Also, it would have been illegal for the vet to treat this bird AND illegal for you to have kept it as a pet..all wild native birds are protected by law. The vet may have opted to euthanize it as well if the wing was bad.
