How to avoid performing when leading worship?

I play guitar in the praise band in my youth group. I'm not the lead person I'm just the backup guitarist. I am struggling with finding the balance between worship and performance. When I play it's not like I'm doing everything in my power to make myself look good but I focus too much on not messing up and getting things to sound perfect and as a result worship is my second priority. I know it's good for me to sound as good as I can so that I don't distract the congregation from worshipping but can you give me some advice on how to make worshipping my number one priority?
