Why does it seem that nobody understands the what makes a genre of music?

Because people tend to find a genre of music that they adore and stick to it. Now, alot of bands change their style of music over the years (Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Korn, Bright Eyes) but they change their image as well. And also, record companies tend to control that kind of stuff so you didn't have things like Bloc Party sounding like andwecamewithbrokenteeth. Most people are drawn to an artist either by the song or the name; the name is in place to evoke what kind of music you're about to hear. That also relates back to the image thing.

When I was in high school, only 'intro to psychology' was available, but really it depends on your school. I agree with you, psychology is extremely interesting, but you need a doctorate to be able to do anything with it, unless you just teach it with a master's degree. There are many opportunities advertised in the back of the magazine "Psychology Today" if you're interested. Thoroughly research it before you go to college, because you don't want to walk into a major with no ideas about your major's possible careers. In my college, 50% of the graduates get a job related to the thing they majored in, because most of them didn't know what to do with the degree once they had it. If you do end up in the psychology field though, good for you! Many others try and give up. Good luck.

Okay, this is a long story. But here goes: So my family is incredibly nosy. I mean seriously. I'm a private person. I like my social life to be private. I clash with my whole family. I wonder if I posted this question before but because I did not see it on Answers, I decided to post it again. Now, about a week ago, a friend of mine at work asked me why the University courses were given in numerals of 3s and 6s. Now that question has also got me wondering about it. Why are course credits given numerals of 3s and 6s instead of 1s, 2s, 4,s or even some other numerical forms. Is there any signifincance to this systerm being carried out in many Universities? I'd appreciate your answers.

Help with night baby sleeping routine...?

I have 5 wk old twins... tonight is our first night putting them in their cribs... we went and bought those sleep things (that hold them in place) and I have put them both down... they cried for 10 minutes and are sleeping. My questions is.. when they wake up (every 3 hours) I should do the same thing until morning? Then should I put them in their bouncers/ boppies? My whole problem is they spent the first 5 wks in their bouncers so I wm not sure what to do with them/ what time through out the day.... I just don't want to mess up what I accomplished tongiht. Why do you guys listen to rap?

I listen to rap because I like listening to the lyrics and (in the case of Eminem) trying to decipher their meaning. I really hate how some rappers just rap about drugs and women. Eminem is the best in my opinion. It actually takes a lot of talent and creativity to come up with lyrics for a lot of songs. Just look at how many songs some rappers have written! What to do with my abusive father?

Well I'm 15 turning 16 this may... and well my father is an immigrant who can't understand english well. I've been living in america my whole life. So today during school I found out that I had a band rehearsal after school so I had to tell my dad (he normally picks me up). However since cell phones aren't allowed in school I have to use the office's telephone and since my dad can't understand english well I have to repeat what i say many times. So I found it easier to tell my 19 year old sister to just tell him herself, so I can save everybody in the office unnecessary repetition. My sister ended up texting my dad and only found out when school ends and he was already there... so when he looked at his phone and saw this he got really mad.(I never answer back at my Dad, quite frankly I try to avoid conversation all year round) On my way back home in the car he threatened to stab me/ beat me till I bleed. I don't feel threatened by my Dad considering that I'm much much much more stronger than he is, no exaggeration. But my dad has beaten my mom, myself, and my sister in past years. When I was 12-13 that's when I got my last beating. My sister was just a couple months ago, but I stopped it. My mom was last beaten probably around 2003. I really can't stand my dad because every time small tiny things like this happen, he over-reacts and tends to even give himself fake reasons to get even angrier. So what should I do? I'm not afraid of his abuse anymore because I can easily protect my family even if my dad has a knife or his machete sword. I'm a 1st degree black belt and I'm perfectly able to defend against such weapons. It's unlikely he has a gun considering that he's too stupid to get one. (he doesn't work=no money & he wouldn't know how to apply for a gun license) My dad just always misinterprets english and any situation in general and will make a bigger deal out of it, which leads him to his threats of abuse. It's only rare that my family and myself make tiny slip ups like what I did today. My Mom is the only one who works as a nurse so we can make ends meet.

I know this sounds horrible, but there are places you can take your kids so you don't have to take care of them, like care homes. they are pretty expensive. But I don't see how you'll have to care for your kids when they only have simple learning disabilities. I have a learning disability and math, and I can obviously take care of myself. You need to learn more about your children's disabilities, as they can't be jsut learning disabilities, which are easily taken care of with extra help. Also, you and your husband should seek counseling.

It looks like a 3.5" but it's hard to tell based on JUST the dimensions. But since the depth dimension is big enough to support a 3.5" (and the external isn't called an ultra-portable), what you need to look for is a 3.5" IDE hard drive enclosure. Taking OUT the current hard drive will be harder than you might think. Most pre-made external hard drives weren't meant to be taken apart. If it really is the enclosure that isn't working (not the hard drive that's faulty), you should just get a philips screw driver, unscrew EVERYTHING, and try to pry it apart (usually, there are plastic clips inside holding the two sides together. Once you get it open, there should be four screws (two on each side) holding the hard drive inside the enclosure. Simply take those out and unplug the drive. Do the reverse to install the drive into the new enclosure.

I filed a complaint with EEOC for ual Harment & Retaliation against my former employer. They are offering mediation and I'm not sure what to ask for. I was being retaliated against for complaining about ual harment that was happening towards me while on the job, my employers allowed it to continue to the point that I had to quit my job out of fear. Can I replace my slip-on bathtub spout with a longer spout?

My current bathtub spout is only 5.25 inches long, so when the water is on, it hits the rim of my bathtub. This causes the water to pool along the grout and splash around. The spout has a set screw (hex wrench style), so I'm uming it's a slip-on spout. Can I replace this with a longer bathtub spout without having to extend the pipe that protrudes from the wall? I sprained my ankle playing soccer and it felt really painful and it got swollen and it bruised as well and on a scale of 1-3 mine was a level 2 sprain so i think that's probably what you did. It depends on how swollen it got and how much it hurt and for how long. As for what you did to your ankle when you hurt it I would say that you just weakened it you might be likely to injure it again if you didn't let it heal properly , but you did well by icing it and as long as you stayed off it for a bit and didn't push it, it should be fine.

because we have 2 small children and it has never really worth me working plus with his job there are no set hours my husband has always been a little bit on the overbearing side but never enough to really bother me but he got put on a special duty for the next 3 years and he hates it and I understand that and i try to keep him motivated and give him sympathy and a listening ear but while he was away on training for 7 weeks for this new job 4 states awy by the 2nd week he started to change he didnt want to talk to me on the phone he always had somthing to do and he started hanging out with people he met which is no big deal i didnt care but he was drinking all the time and never had time for me at all while he was there he bought a new truck without consulting me and at that time I was working full time and takeing care of the house and the kids no complaints there he also spent 1,500 out of our savings account when his room and meals were provided and he also had a goverment credit card in which to purchase gas for his car and additional food etc. with no explanation of what he needed it for when I asked him and I know that it was not for food or gas cuz I got his credit card statements in the mail and sometimes i would call and I would hear girls in the background and i would ask what he was doing or where he was at and he would say he was in his room but then he would contradict himself the next day by telling me about something that happened but i never tripped on him or said anything that i knew he was lieing i just let it go and figured i was just being paranoid or reading too much into things but when he came back i noticed more he had some phone numbers for girls on his phone i asked about them he said he was in school with them and had to have them in case of a phone tree or something and i said well now you can erase them and he said he did he was also acting diffrent in the way of his personality he is usually very quiet and ver conservative he was now acting all cool and open his look changed and other things like his drive he either coulndnt get it up or couldnt get off or just flat out didnt want it he said it was just that he was getting older he had just turned 26 the first time we had when he got back he couldnt finish and to be quite frank he has never had any of those problems and he is usually fast about it after that long and will not leave me alone for at least a week well that was 5 months ago the has not changed we only do it maybe 1 time a week im 24 thats not enough and his attitude towards me and the kids has changed completely he is nit picky at everything with me and the kids he just doesnt spend anytime with the kids anymore he is always at work 7 am -10pm there will be numbers on his cell i dont recognize but i cant say much about that he is in the army but he does not respect me at all he tells me im lazy useless hes not attracted to me anymore tells me to leave and im trash worthless pile of nothing and he does it in front of the kids he critisizes everything i do now the house is never clean enough and everything is always wrong he blew up on me for not putting some dvds back in the case i mean I am having my gall bladder removed next week. I have never had surgery before, and I am pretty nervous. I am not sure what to expect in terms of how long I will be in the hospital, how painful recovery will be, and what to expect long term. I tried to speak with my surgeon about this, but he was so busy trying to be reuring that I didn't feel like I got any real answers to my questions. It is a 94 Honda Civic with 179000 miles on it. It is very clean inside and has been well taken care of. It has very cold a/c and its engine is very clean. The owner said it has never been wrecked except for when someone backed into it while he was at the grocery store and they took off before he saw it. He is asking $2100 for it. I have a child's voice what can I do?

I'm 20yrs old and everytime I'm on the phone or call for a job offer whether internship or summer job I get asked if I'm even old enough to work and get laughed off when I say I'm 20. This heat rise reading that you get will ensure that the exhaust temperature is ok, as long as the heat rise value is within the acceptable parameter. The range of temperature where the heat rise parameter should fall is listed on the manufacturers rating plate on the Furnace...Usually inside the cabinet somewhere. Example: It will say... Heat Rise 35 F to 70 F. So as long as the difference in the temperature readings taken from the return air (Cold Air) and the supply air (Hot Air) is a reading anywhere between 35 and 70 degrees Farenheit, your system should be venting properly....unless you have had a wrong type of venting system installed for that furnace, or a blocked chimney, the unit should vent (exhaust ) properly. Having a properly vented furnace is key to longevity of its parts. Good Luck...ps. I forgot to tell you one thing... When doing the heat rise check, you should crank up your thermostat in heat mode. Make the heat run steady for a good 10 minutes. This allows your furnace to reach its peak operating temperature and start running at a steady state. This steady state is where you want to take your readings. If you go to a Plumbing or Refrigeration supplier, you should be able to get a probe type of thermometer for about 20 to 30 dollars. It kinda looks like a thermometer that you stick in a nice Beef roast. If you have a duct system you can drill a 3/16 hole in each duct plenum to insert your probe. Make sure you dont drill into your AC Evaporator coil that is usually mounted in the supply (hot air plenum) of a forced air furnace that works as the air handler for the central AC system.

Okay, so i was going to write about how different wars in the US, starting from Civil War, then WWI, WWII, the cold war( Vietnam, Korean War) to the current Iraq war have all been affected by the media. I think i will focus on photography, video and newspaper... I was planning on going through each war and saying how these medias affected them, but i fear that will sound to repetitive and nonacademic. Also, i am going to argue( my thesis) that these media representations have caused Americans to form negative views on war and how they bring about the realities of war. With this said, should I also dedicate a paragraph to contradict my thesis to show a different side to it? Or incorporate the contradictions? Can you please ist me in how to organize this essay?
